Key Responsibilities & Scope
- Technical Customer Liaison: Serve as the main technical contact, evaluating customer inquiries, conducting site/equipment inspections, and recommending cost-effective “repair vs. replace” strategies for emergency breakdowns and planned outages.
- Evaluation & Root Cause Analysis: Analyze gearbox components (gears, bearings, shafts, housings, seals) alongside inspection/NDT reports to perform Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and write detailed technical reports.
- Proposal & Cost Estimating: Develop detailed repair scopes of work and prepare labor, material, and subcontracting cost estimates to generate competitive customer quotes aligning with AGMA standards.
- Engineering & Reverse Engineering: Collaborate with repair engineering to create repair drawings, work instructions, and execute reverse engineering solutions when original OEM drawings are missing.
- Project Execution & Quality Control: Coordinate repair projects from order entry to shipment, resolving technical machining/assembly issues and supporting final customer witness testing.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of AGMA gearing standards, precision measurement, bearing/lubrication failure mechanisms, rotating equipment, and machining/welding repair methodologies.
- Experience & Commercial Acumen: 5–10+ years in industrial power transmission or heavy equipment repair (steel, mining, cement, power gen), combining strong technical problem-solving with cost estimating and cross-functional coordination skills.
